CityNeighborhoods.nyc is a photographic and mapping project documenting New York City neighborhoods through original photography, narrative writing, and research-informed geographic context.

Unless otherwise noted, all content on the Site—including photographs, text, maps, graphics, and design elements—is owned by CityNeighborhoods.nyc and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

You may:

• View the Site for personal, non-commercial use

• Share links to pages on the Site (please do)

You may not (without prior written permission):

• Reproduce, republish, sell, license, or distribute Site content

• Use Site content for automated scraping, dataset creation, or training of machine learning models

• Remove watermarks, credits, or copyright notices

If you’re a researcher, educator, journalist, or local institution and want to use materials, contact us—permissions are often possible with proper context and credit.

Photos may include buildings, public spaces, and incidental appearances of trademarks or signage. Such appearances are documentary and do not imply endorsement.

Neighborhood boundaries and historical notes on the Site reflect best-fit, research-informed interpretation and street-level observation. They are not official designations and should not be treated as authoritative for legal, real estate, or governmental purposes.

The Site may link to third-party websites and services, including:

• SmugMug (for print purchases)

• Google services (for advertising and analytics)

Third-party sites are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party content, policies, or transactions.

If you subscribe to the newsletter, you agree to receive periodic emails. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link included in each email.

If you send feedback, corrections, historical resources, or stories (“Submissions”), you grant us permission to read, store, and respond to your message.

We will not publish your name or submission publicly without your explicit permission. We may use anonymous insights to improve accuracy (for example, correcting an error you point out).

 CityNeighborhoods.nyc is a documentary and informational project. While the Site may describe neighborhoods, routes, landmarks, transit, and street-level observations, it is not a substitute for professional travel, safety, medical, or legal advice. Conditions in New York City can change quickly (including construction, closures, weather, traffic, safety conditions, and local rules).

By using the Site, you understand and agree that any decision to visit New York City, follow a route, or rely on information from the Site is made at your own discretion and risk. You are responsible for your own safety, planning, and conduct, and for complying with all applicable laws and regulations.

CityNeighborhoods.nyc is not responsible for any injury, loss, damage, delay, or other harm arising from travel, navigation, or visits to locations mentioned on the Site.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CityNeighborhoods.nyc will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Site.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
